Control of the charging electronics in an Electric Vehicle

Client: Leading southern German engineering service provider

Context and Objectives

For the control of the charging electronics in an Electric vehicle, a control concept has to be designed with a focus on ripple minimization during charging. The developed control algorithm was later programmed on the target hardware and verified on the existing charger.

Realisation

  • Model Design the control concept – current and voltage control
  • Simulative controller design for controlling the selected topology
  • Embedded software development of the simulated control concept and programming on the target Microcontroller
  • Integration and validation on the charger

Used Tools and Qualifications

Matlab / Simulink, Simscape Electrical, C++, TI CCS

TVM Engineering Embedded Software Development

Test of Interfaces and Interoperability

  • Communication
  • Error injection
  • Reaction and switching times

Results

  • Tested and integrated control algorithm
  • Stable current and voltage control
